This may sound crazy, but, assuming this is the best offer you can get from the guy, I think I'd take it if I were that in love with Lee or Thomas. A future 1st round pick, especially one that seems fairly certain to be top 3, will remain a liquid asset until 2014, no matter what. In Drake’s Thursday night debut, he rattled off 110 yards on 15 carries, good for a 7.33 ypc average. You're not going to compete this year, so by keeping Morris, you're running the risk that a liquid asset becomes an illiquid one (if he gets hurt or just has a down year). Morris was squeezed out by the arrival of Kenyan Drake, who came over via trade with the Dolphins. I'm rambling here, I know, but it's an interesting question. Is that really that far off from two generic 1sts? I'd argue it's probably worth more. Instead you're getting 1st + 2nd, except it's very likely 1.01-1.03 and 2.01-2.03. If you could get two 1sts for Morris, I think a lot of people, maybe 50%, would say take it. The team could not be 1.01 (although that roster is terrible) or Lee could blow out a knee or Morris could explode and have an even better year. Nevermind getting another 2nd round pick on top of that. All in all, Morris has 6,000+ yards to his credit over nine seasons with the Giants, Cowboys, Washington, 49ers, and Cardinals. His most notable game came against Washington in November 67 yards off of nine-totes. ![]() If it's an AJ Green level perception on Lee, then I don't think Morris would be enough to get 1.01 next year, even if he has another solid year (I don't see him fully duplicating last year's performance, personally). In 2020, Morris totaled 238 yards on 55 carries for the Giants. Will he be considered on the AJ Green level? Julio Jones? Or will he be more like Justin Blackmon or something? Question: What are the chances that in May 2014, you are able to get 1.01 for Alfred Morris? It's very early of course, but it sure sounds like Lee will be considered an elite WR prospect, likely go in the top half of the 1st round. So yes, that's bad value right now, but you're a rebuilding team (clearly), so you have to think long-term. I agree that it is bad "value." But what does that word mean? In this context, I think it means that you should normally be able to get X + Y + Z for Morris, but instead, you're contemplating selling him for X + Y. Cards 2014 Score - Scorecard 281 Alfred Morris H100 2014 Topps 48 Alfred Morris SP, VAR 2014 Topps 116 Washington Redskins TL 2014 Topps 312 Alfred. Yeah, you know, I don't think this is a terrible trade.
